CONCEPT
本研究では、南米の伝統的な衣服である「ポンチョ」を取り上げ、特徴である、正方形パターンのモード・ファッションへの応用を研究した。
正方形のパターンはアップサイクル、ゼロ・ウェイスト・デザインへと適用でき、ホールガーメントと組み合わせることにより、素材を無駄にしないミニコレクションのデザインに挑戦した。作品を制作するにあたり、古着の着物を素材として活用し、ホールガーメントと手編みのニットを組み合わせることで、アップサイクルとゼロ・ウェイストを両立した作品を制作することができた。

Re-Construction through Knit
CONCEPT
In this investigation, I took up the traditional South American clothing “poncho” and studied the application of the square pattern to fashion. The square pattern can be applied to upcycling and zero waste pattern. Combining it with WHOLEGARMENT, I made a mini zero waste collection. In creating the work, I used a vintage kimono as a fabric. By matching the straight components of the garment pattern to the dimensions of the kimono parts and combining WHOLEGARMENT and hand-knitted knits for the components that require curves, it is possible to create works that balance upcycling and zero waste.
